Davis, Kleefisch No-Shows at Lt Governor Forum

Walker’s potential running mates duck public scrutiny

MIDDLETON – Republican Lieutenant Governor hopefuls Brett Davis and Rebecca Kleefisch were no-shows at a major candidate forum in the state capital Tuesday. The two GOP favorites dodged basic policy questions posed at the bi-partisan gathering – choosing instead to hide their extreme views from the public.

“I think Scott Walker might want to talk to his potential running mates and find out why they’re afraid to take questions from voters,” said Henry Sanders, Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor. “Do they not care about creating jobs for young professionals? Are they afraid to put their records and positions up against those of Democrats? As a fellow Republican, Scott probably knows the answer. They have nothing of substance to bring to the table, and they know it.”

All four Democratic candidates for Lieutenant Governor were joined by one Republican and a Libertarian at the forum, hosted by a Madison-area young professionals group.

“Wisconsin’s working families deserve leadership with a strong vision for the future,” said Sanders. “If the Republicans won’t put forward a clear plan and won’t act like leaders, then they don’t deserve the opportunity to lead this state.”
